Curriculum enhancement funding: Bids advice

Further to Kaylie Fortune’s email (26/08/2014), the next call for curriculum enhancement funding closes on Monday 26th January 2015 and applications should be discussed with me and signed-off by this date. Having sat on the panel that reviewed the first set of bids, I would offer the following advice:

·         The scope for the project to be scaled-up and to benefit other programmes across the institution emerged as a critical criterion. How the ‘legacy’ of your proposed project will be assured is also important.

·         Consider whether your proposed project is aimed at enhancement or at addressing deficiencies, the latter are unlikely to be funded.

·         Do not include funding for conference attendance as the focus must be on curriculum enhancement. Travel/subsistence claims for meetings with project collaborators are fine.

·         Use the costings table within the form itself and do not append other budget documentation.

·         Collaborations across Schools/Faculties are looked upon favourably and I can provide advice in this respect.

Personal Tutor Guide for Student Employability

You may have received a copy of this guide (right) and a version of it was shared with UG Programme Leaders at an away day in June. The document contains suggested content for tutorials relating to employability. Individual programme teams can decide how best to use this resource.

Accessibility (thanks to Ruth Nagus)

You can always change the background colour of Word and PDF documents, Blackboard and Outlook messages. This can be of particular value to those with dyslexia. I’ve added a document that describes how this can be achieved to the Resources section of the Faculty LTA Website:
