The LJMU Teaching and Learning Academy University support for LTA is being
restructured. Education and Academic
Quality Services (EAQS) is no more and it has been split into a quality
assurance unit and the LJMU Teaching and Learning Academy. Expect more details around this new
development in coming weeks. |

Submitting Coursework to the Print Unit Guidance has been updated given the
changes to the printer facilities at LJMU and may be found under the Resources
section of the Faculty LTA website. A reminder that in accordance with
the University’s
e-submission policy, all work composed of a single file in MS Word or PDF
format that is up to 2000 words in length should be submitted electronically. |

Video recording of teaching (thanks
to Chris Gilles) The
University is currently rolling
out a new institutional video and audio capture package called Panopto. This industry
leading, all-in-one system incorporates a load of different functions including: · Screen
recording · Audio
recording · Video
recording · File
uploading and hosting · PowerPoint
capture · And
Blackboard publishing All
propped up by flexible and accessible editing facilities. The
great news is this is already available via the JMU App Player and
presents an exciting opportunity for colleagues who would like to experiment
with this media in their teaching and research. Panopto is also likely to be of interest to
colleagues who have previously been dissuaded from using video or audio
media, due to either concerns about the complexity of professional programs or fears about the permanence and security of their created content.
If
you would like to read more about Panopto there is a host of guides and
resources already available on the Blackboard
EVA page (Blackboard
login required). An example
of a Panopto
screen
recording and some tips
on improving the quality are also available. Alternatively, you can jump right in and install it now on
your desktop via the JMU App Player or
on your iOS device via the Apple
store. If
you are thinking about using this on a large scale or would like to explore the possibility of your students using Panopto to create and
store their own content, then please contact project lead Jim Turner. |
